Ai is a thing now, and I do have some quite strong views on it purpose and place. I thought I would share my thoughts, around the new technology and what to expect and also what is rubbish. Believe it or not back in the early 90s (showing my age) I thought the internet is pointless and never take off! I like to be proven wrong… and well my whole working life has been involved in technology, state or the art systems and also what we’ve built and developed in CocoonFX.
Ai to me has been around since Alan Turin invented the computer… an excel spreadsheet with marco is a form of AI. You then have OCR scanning, taking data from word or PDFs and putting it into a system. However AI is all of this on steroids, the speed you can get things done is ridiculous.
Everyday you see on the news, online and people saying oh AI can do that… Can it? Can AI do everything… I have been playing alot with Ai… and what I have learnt is below.
Can Ai produce an article?
Yes it can, but it will follow a format, it will be void of human emotions, it will not use facts, (ChatGTP 5 is meant to solve this), it will also make things up. I can spot AI content a mile off. Particularly blogs.. So can Google (there being less strict about it, come on to this in a bit).
Can Ai redesign & build my website?
My head in my hands… Yes it can provide a layout… is it unique no. Is it build using best practices.. no, is it optimised no. Is the code logical no. I have used Loveable.ai and some others to test them out. There good if you want something quick and simple. If they develop a bug… good luck fixing it, often the sites are built in framework unique to people who provide the site.
Can Ai build apps and code?
NOW, I thought this would be a slam dunk yes… Open source code is out there, coding is very structured. For the past 18 months I have been testing. 1 project I was looking at, 119 attempts to get it to work. That is the number of revisions. This week I built an Ai Agent – Chrysalis. I tightened up the brief and used prompts which I would give a Junior development. 28 versions later I revert back to version 18 which actually worked. https://www.cocoonfx.co.uk/ask-chrysalis/
Can Ai do research?
Absolutely NOT! regardless of the speed it can get data its not accurate and it gives up. I have a database of 64,000 vessels which I need to get 2 pieces of information, which are in the public domain, on multiple sources. I can buy in the data… don’t want to do that. I asked Ai ChatGTP, Gemini, CoPilot to try to the information. All 3 failed.
Can Ai automated things?
YES, it can do this and it is useful if you can spend the time working out a workflow.
So you probably wondering why I am writing this, if I am not a big fan. It’s simple any new technology takes time to get better, look at TV’s, Phones and everything. It will get much better.
The future with Ai and websites & Search
Website are going to evolve. A good friend of my CEO of a large international marketing agency, posted a very valid question. With the search engines going AI based, and they increased usage of using ChatGTP etc.. to find answer questions, do you need a website. With LLM (Large Language Model –AI trained on huge amounts of text to predict the next word, so it can write, summarise, translate, answer questions, extract data, and generate code in plain English), you don’t neccessarly need a website?
Me & Glen a few years back where thinking what’s next (how to save our jobs) and we thought Ai there is something we can leverage.
With my friend asking the above, I thought, hold on… If your website had pages, good quality content, and factual information, you can have an Ai Agent to be your concierge, where you ask the Ai Agent, a question about your service, your products and your thoughts on something.
You can close loop the query to enable the Ai Agent only to use your content. It then answers the question, gives you a summary and then links to the pages which match the question based on the treshold.
THEN i thought, with the right guardrails (rules) and prompts behind the scenes you can automatically generate user based content (blogs) which then will help improve the site content. This then ticks the box on Google Organic search results which will be around for many years to come and also Gemini and the other AI Searches. We now can generate content automatically, I have an apporval process (human eye) before I publish.
Ask Chrysalis
Ask a question about this website. We’ll enforce an 80% match; otherwise we show the nearest content plus contact.
So I have create “Ask Chrysalis” you can google this we will be at the top. If you click the button below you can ask it a question. The robot in the banner is AI generated as well. It does take about 10 seconds to get a response (I am working on making it faster).
My final thoughts are… don’t be afraid of change, embrace Ai but get yourselves ready for it. AI SEO is now a thing… its a slight different process to normal SEO, but we can help you get found in AI Search.
We will move our home page on our website to Ask Chrysalis and keep all the existing pages in the menu.
